Dog crates are life-savers.  They prevent dogs chewing through personal belongings and they help when toilet training young puppies.  Some dogs  will chew anything, including wires - that could cause the dog to be electrocuted, which would not be a very, pleasant experience!

If a puppy is to be housed outside, it will need appropriate shelter from the wind and rain.  A dog kennel should be sufficient when the dog is around eight months old, but until then he/she should remain in the house.  It is always better to get a dog used to living in a kennel in the Spring rather than in the Winter.

If you decide to buy a crate, may I suggest Prize Pets, as, in my experience, they sell the best quality dog crates.
